Helix Eobania Vermiculata
The Helix Eobania Vermiculata is the common snail, also known as “Rigatella”. It is a species small in size. This species does not fare well in captivity; in fact, it is very difficult to raise. It is common in several habitats, from built-up areas to natural habitats such as prairies, hedges, vegetable gardens and flower gardens.
The adult specimens seek shelter by digging into the ground and closing up the hole of the shell with a diaphragm, whereas juveniles settle for taking shelter under rocks or leaves. They are delicacies if prepared in classic sauce recipes typical of the Latium or Sardinian areas.
